Quick Payoff for my Home Security Cameras and Wireless Security Systems
The first purchase I made for our renovation last month was a pair of home security cameras. Our money was that of most young newlyweds – miniscule – so my wife questioned my decision.
We had been in our new place for three months when we got the motivation to do the initial renovations we had thought about when we got the place. The structure was very sound, and our acreage – three acres just a few minutes out of town – was exactly what we had been looking for. The house itself was outdated and too small – we planned to add on and remodel as finances allowed.
To save money we performed a lot of the work ourselves. After a couple days we piled the garage with building materials, cabinets, counter tops, and all the power tools we purchased for our big venture. We had to buy a table saw, two special hand saws, two drills, two ladders, and several different hand tools and gear. Our tiny garage – with a door that did not lock attached to a house with no burglar alarm – had over a thousand dollars worth of supplies in it. As soon as the truck was unloaded I immediately set about installing my two wireless home security cameras. I decided on wireless for many reasons, primarily the fact that there is no need to wire anything directly. So, if I choose to reconfigure the wireless cameras I can do so quickly without all the tedious rewiring.
I mounted the first one on the gable of the house looking down toward the entry way. I mounted the second in the backyard looking at the house. Our system allows us to go to the web and see our place sort of like wireless CCTV cameras, so we figured out that feature and called it a night.
The very next day my wife told her girlfriends at work our new wireless surveillance cameras. She got on the computer to view our place and she just barely noticed in the background that the garden shed was open. She called me asking if I had forgotten to shut it. As soon as I said no she saw the garage door open and a man taking off with an armful of my new tools. The sheriff’s department caught him just a few miles down the road. He had spotted us unloading the truck and came back the next day to try and rob us. Less than 24 hours and those cameras more than paid for themselves.
